Our History

Since 2003, The Richard Siegel Foundation has been made up of the trustees committee from First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.

Upon his death, Mr. Siegel donated the land for the church, which was formerly located in downtown Murfreesboro, He also donated land to Rutherford County for schools and the City of Murfreesboro for a school and parks. The Foundation accepts applications each year for consideration for the scholarships, which are open to any senior in Rutherford County. In addition to the annual scholarships, the organization also accepts annual requests from schools for grant projects. 

The foundation is a not for profit and is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, literary and scientific purposes to improve the overall quality of public education in the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. The goal of increasing community involvement in public education. encouraging imaginative and create approaches to educating public school students, stimulating optimism in teacher s and inspiration in students, generating energy and enthusiasm within the community in support of the  public schools. The foundation provides scholarships to graduates of the public high schools in the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. Promoting development of young people and families through recreation in the City of Murfreesboro.
